- 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
- 4 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, American, or Swiss)
- 4 hamburger buns
- ½ onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Your favorite toppings: pickles, tomatoes, or BBQ sauce
- Sautéed mushrooms (optional)
- Hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Chop any veggies you want to include and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onions, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is fully browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once cooked, place a generous amount of the beef mixture on the bottom half of each bun and layer with cheese.
- To melt the cheese, either bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or cover the skillet and cook on low heat until melted.
- Add your chosen toppings, cover with the top bun, and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, toast your buns beforehand and experiment with different cheeses.
