Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • 4 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, American, or Swiss)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • ½ onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Your favorite toppings: pickles, tomatoes, or BBQ sauce
  • Sautéed mushrooms (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Chop any veggies you want to include and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onions, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is fully browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once cooked, place a generous amount of the beef mixture on the bottom half of each bun and layer with cheese.
  4. To melt the cheese, either bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or cover the skillet and cook on low heat until melted.
  5. Add your chosen toppings, cover with the top bun, and enjoy!
