Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Your favorite jam or jelly

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture. Mix until dough is crumbly but holds together.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Use your thumb to create an indent in each ball.
  7. Spoon jam into each thumbprint.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
  9. Cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
