- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Your favorite jam or jelly
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture. Mix until dough is crumbly but holds together.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Use your thumb to create an indent in each ball.
- Spoon jam into each thumbprint.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
- Cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
