Description

Ingredients

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry preserves (or fresh strawberries, diced)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Optional Glaze: 2 tablespoons milk
  • Optional Glaze: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface and slice into heart shapes.
  3. Combine the softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Mix until smooth, then fold in the strawberry preserves or fresh strawberries.
  4. Place a heart-shaped pastry piece on the baking sheet, add cream cheese filling in the middle, and top with another pastry piece cut into a smaller heart.
  5. Brush the danishes with the egg wash for a golden finish and bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  6. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for an optional glaze and drizzle over the danishes when warm.
