A classic comfort food, this Slow Cooker Beef Manhattan features tender beef in rich gravy, perfect for cozy nights in.


Ingredients

  • 23 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Texas toast or your favorite bread
  • Optional: Mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Season the chuck roast generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Optional: Sear the beef on each side in a pan for added flavor.
  3. Add beef, chopped onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth to the slow cooker and mix.
  4. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours.
  5. Shred the beef with two forks when cooked.
  6. Serve on Texas toast or over mashed potatoes.

Notes

For thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water and add during the last 30 minutes. Adding heavy cream can also enhance the gravy’s richness.
