Description

A comforting Sloppy Joe casserole that combines savory ground beef, sweet-tangy sauce, and a crispy topping, perfect for weeknight dinners and meal prep.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups biscuit mix (or 2 cups mashed potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 4–5 minutes.
  4. Mix in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and garlic powder. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Spread the meat mixture into a 9×13 baking dish.
  6. Combine biscuit mix, milk, and egg in a bowl until just combined.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the meat.
  8. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the biscuit drops.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
