Description

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 lbs potatoes (Russets or Yukon Gold)
  • Butter (to taste)
  • Milk or cream (to taste)
  • Salt (for potatoes)
  • Pepper (for potatoes)

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef and onion in a pan over medium heat until the meat is cooked and onions are translucent.
  2. Add flour to the beef and stir for about a minute.
  3. Pour in the beef broth gradually while stirring until the gravy thickens.
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder; let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Peel and cut potatoes, then boil in salted water until fork-tender (15-20 minutes).
  6. Drain potatoes, then mash with butter, milk or cream, salt, and pepper until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Serve mashed potatoes on a plate and ladle the beef and gravy over them.
