Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef (lean)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Garlic powder (optional)
- 2 lbs potatoes (Russets or Yukon Gold)
- Butter (to taste)
- Milk or cream (to taste)
- Salt (for potatoes)
- Pepper (for potatoes)
Instructions
- Brown the beef and onion in a pan over medium heat until the meat is cooked and onions are translucent.
- Add flour to the beef and stir for about a minute.
- Pour in the beef broth gradually while stirring until the gravy thickens.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder; let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Peel and cut potatoes, then boil in salted water until fork-tender (15-20 minutes).
- Drain potatoes, then mash with butter, milk or cream, salt, and pepper until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve mashed potatoes on a plate and ladle the beef and gravy over them.
