Description

A deliciously easy dessert that combines the flavors of pecan pie with a delightful cake layer on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of corn syrup
  • A dash of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Dump the cake mix into the prepared dish.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the cake mix.
  4. Pour the brown sugar evenly on top of the pecans.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, and vanilla (if using), then pour this over the mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for about 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let it cool before serving warm, optionally with ice cream or caramel sauce.

Notes

For a twist, try using chocolate or spice cake mix. Roasting the pecans can enhance their flavor.
