Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and warm brown butter; whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in the chopped pecans gently.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 20 minutes before cutting into squares.
