Description

A rich and creamy Indian classic that combines marinated chicken in a velvety sauce, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, red chili powder, and garam masala in a bowl. Add chicken pieces and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, ideally overnight.
  2. In a large pan, heat oil and sauté the marinated chicken until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, melt butter, add chopped onions, and cook until golden brown. Add crushed tomatoes and sugar, cooking until the sauce reduces and thickens.
  4. Add the chicken back to the pan and stir in the heavy cream. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with naan or rice.

Notes

Use freshly ground spices for a richer flavor and consider adding spinach or peas for extra nutrients.
