- 1 lb Ground beef (or turkey/meat substitute)
- 1 medium Chopped onions
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 2 tablespoons Chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 can (15 oz) Tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) Kidney beans (optional)
- 1 can (14 oz) Diced tomatoes
- 1 Bell pepper (any color)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh jalapeños or serranos (optional)
- Corn (optional)
- Cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the meat in a large pot over medium heat until browned, breaking it into small chunks.
- Sauté the onions and garlic until the onions are translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and kidney beans, then add the bell peppers and stir until well combined.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning before serving.
