Description

A delicious twist on the classic cheesesteak, made with ground beef for a savory and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 bell pepper, any color
  • 2 cups provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz)
  • 4 sub rolls
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • Mushrooms (optional)
  • Hot peppers (optional)
  • Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, drizzle about a tablespoon of olive oil. Toss in the sliced onions and peppers and cook for 5-7 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In the same skillet, add the ground beef and brown it, breaking it up with a spatula, until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Stir in the sautéed onions and peppers, mixing well. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if desired.
  4. Layer provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz) over the meat and veggie mix and cover the skillet for a minute to melt the cheese.
  5. Fill the sub rolls with the cheesy mixture. Optionally, place them in a preheated oven for about 5 minutes for warmth and crispiness.
  6. Serve and enjoy your Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks!
