- Ingredients for strawberry syrup: 1 cup strawberries, ½ cup sugar, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
- Cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Combine the buttermilk and vanilla in another bowl and then pour it into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Shape the batter into a greased baking dish or scoop onto a parchment-lined baking sheet for drop biscuits.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Chill a bowl beforehand for whipping cream.
- Combine the cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla in the chilled bowl.
- Mix on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
- Assemble your dessert by slicing the cake and layering with strawberries and whipped cream.
Notes
For added flavor, consider making homemade strawberry syrup to drizzle over the whipped cream.
