- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Sift together the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Layer the strawberries and whipped cream between the cooled cakes.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining whipped cream and decorate with additional strawberries.
Notes
For an extra decorative touch, consider adding mint leaves or edible flowers.
