Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Sift together the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  11. Layer the strawberries and whipped cream between the cooled cakes.
  12. Frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining whipped cream and decorate with additional strawberries.
