Description

A rich and gooey Southern staple dessert filled with pecans, perfect for any festive occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 ½ cups pecans (chopped)
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon bourbon

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Add the cold butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
  4. Form a disk, wrap it in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.
  6. Stir in the pecans (and chocolate chips and/or bourbon, if desired).
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit your pie dish (12-inch circle).
  8. Transfer the crust to the dish and press it into the sides.
  9. Pour in the pecan filling and spread the pecans evenly.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 60-70 minutes until set.
  11. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful touch. This pie can be made ahead and is freezer-friendly.
