Description

Delicious sugar cookies with a vibrant blue color that are as fun to make as they are to eat!


Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Blue food coloring (gel works best!)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set that oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  3. Add the Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the Dry Ingredients: Toss together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Slowly add this dry mix to your wet mixture.
  5. Color It Blue: Add a few drops of the blue food coloring and mix until you reach your desired shade of blue.
  6. Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for about an hour.
  7. Shape and Bake: Roll the dough into balls, flatten them slightly, and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes.
  8. Cool Down: Let them cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Decorate or Enjoy Plain: Add icing, sprinkles, or edible glitter as desired.
