Description
A comforting and hearty casserole made with ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and gooey cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
- 4 medium potatoes (peeled and sliced thinly)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional add-ins: bell peppers, corn, broccoli, garlic powder, paprika
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onions until the beef is cooked through.
- In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- In a greased baking dish, layer potato slices, browned beef and onions, and drizzle with the soup mixture, repeating the layers and finishing with potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
Slice potatoes thinly for even cooking. Don’t add too much milk to avoid a soupy texture. Feel free to experiment with different veggies.
